The Government of Canada has provided significant financial support to help upgrade high-speed Internet access for approximately 12,000 households in Nunavut and the Nunavik region of northern Quebec.

Under Canada’s Economic Action Plan, the Government is establishing a world-class research station in the North, the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS). It will be a year-round multi-disciplinary facility on the cutting edge of research into environmental and resource development issues. In the past year, a lot of progress has been made on the planning and design of CHARS and construction will begin this autumn.
